The National Science and Technology Council accepted the application for the first phase of the 2014 subsidy for holding international academic seminars on the island from March 1, 2014 to April 1, 2014.

1. This solicitation is handled in accordance with the “Key Points of Subsidy for Holding International Academic Seminars in China”, which aims to enhance the exchanges between China and the international academic community, and improve the scientific and technological level and international academic status of China.

2. The schedule of the first phase of 2014 is as follows:

(1) The system acceptance date: from March 1, 2014 to April 12014;

(2) Conference time: Seminars to be held between April 1, 2014 and September 30, 114.

(3) The scheduled announcement date of the review results: June 12014 (it may be extended if necessary).

3. The full-time teaching, research or technical personnel (hereinafter referred to as the conference organizer) in the establishment of the applicant organization may apply to the applicant institution, and should first apply online, upload the materials and submit them to the institution on the academic research and development service network on the homepage of the association’s website, and then the applicant institution will review and pass the relevant qualifications and documents within 2014Before April 1, the online system will be sent to the Association, no need to prepare a separate letter, and the applicant can set an early deadline in the system according to the needs of the review operation; if the application is overdue or the application documents are incomplete, the Association will not accept or return the application, please work as soon as possible.

4. In order to encourage joint holding of large-scale international academic conferences with international academic organizations, please fill in the number of foreign experts and scholars participating and the number of countries when applying, and foreign experts and scholars from at least two countries or regions should come to Taiwan to participate in the seminar, excluding Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

5. In view of the needs of the seminar to be conducted by digital technology, foreign experts, scholars or participants who participate in the conference by video or other digital technology can be regarded as attending the conference in person.

6. In order to support female researchers to participate in international academic seminars and encourage applicants to provide measures to take care of young children, this subsidy program may provide childcare service funds according to actual needs.

7. No reply shall be made to the application that has not been recommended by the Commission.

8. Application Objects and Qualifications:

(1) International academic organizations must be recognized by the Association.

(2) Foreign experts and scholars from at least two countries or regions (excluding Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao) should come to Taiwan to participate in the seminar. However, academic seminars promoted by the Council’s policy planning are not limited to this.

(3) The preparation of international academic seminars and the participation of domestic academic circles should be national.

(4) International academic seminars shall openly solicit papers or invite papers to be published.
